New York City is known for its signature Manhattan skyline that includes towering skyscrapers that seem to defy engineering. At one point, both the Empire State Building and the Chrysler building were given the title of the world’s largest building. Though other engineering feats bumped them down on the list, the city still has an impressive number of tall buildings. New giants are continuing to be built, amazing locals and tourists alike.
53 West 53rd
Jean Nouvel from Paris is the signature architect for the new luxury residential skyscraper. The building, which is expected to be finished in 2019, will stand 1,050 feet when completed. The 77-story building will house 145 condominiums and offers amenities similar to super-luxury hotels. Residents of 53 West 53rd will have access to a double-height lounge, a private dining room, and exquisite views of Central Park.
30 Hudson Yards
The 1,268-foot 30 Hudson Yards is a premier office building in the center of Manhattan. The skyscraper has 73 floors with an observation deck that is the highest in the city. It is expected to be completed in 2019. The 2.6-million-square-foot tower will be the second tallest in the city. Its location that is near the new No. 7 subway station, restaurants, and popular tourist spots has already attracted WarnerMedia and investment firm KKR.
111 West 57th Street
The 82-floor building is perfectly centered on Central Park, offering its residents unparalleled views. The luxury condominium tower has 82 floors and is expected to be completed in 2019. Architects who designed the building used the original landmarked Steinway Hall that was built in 1925 and added a new tower that makes it stand tall among the skyline and surrounding buildings.
Central Park Tower
When completed in 2020, Central Park Tower will be the tallest building in the city, with only One World Trade Center standing taller. It will be an estimated 1,550 feet upon completion and will have 95 floors. The mixed-use building, which has also been termed ‘Nordstrom Tower,’ stands along Billionaires’ Row. The building will house 179 condominiums, a Nordstrom department store, and amenities that include pools, a theatre, gardens, a spa, gym, basketball court, and a ballroom. Central Park Tower will have the highest residential occupied floor in North America once finished.
